"All I Do Is Win"

This week my mom gave me a journal to start recording my wins: big or small.

Shockingly, I had a lot more wins than I did losses. Had I not taken the time to celebrate them though, I would have been under the impression that I was doing a lot worse than I was.

Celebrating your mini victories is validation that you’re on the right track. It is recognition that the long hours are paying off, and it is a reminder that God is guiding your steps.

They say that practicing gratitude leads to experiencing greater happiness, and they are right. I am having the longest, most academically challenging days I have had in a very long time, but despite that, I am joyful.

During my years as a pre-med, I used to feed the wrong energy: work harder, get a perfect score, study more, etc. And while that might have been beneficial for boosting my resume, it sheltered me from enjoying the journey.

I am only a few weeks into medical school, but I can say that so far I have enjoyed every second of it. That’s not because I have it all together, but because the small wins remind me that I am on my way.

The things that seem to be standing in our way right now are only there because that’s where we placed them. The things that scare us only do so because we have allowed ourselves to believe that they are bigger than we can conquer. On the other side of that fear is a breakthrough.

So, what were your victories this week?
