Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

Happy 1 Year to Doctor-ish!

I published this blog the day before I started medical school, and as I prepare to enter my second year I am in awe of how God has shaped me.

This year was rough.

Actually rough doesn't do it justice. This year nearly broke me. I struggled in the beginning of school, battled with self doubt, lost relationships, got stretched too thin, etc. Now that I made it through, however, I see that the losses were nothing compared to the wins that were to come.

I finished the first year with some of the best grades I had ever made, new relationships formed and old ones strengthened. Most of all, I found peace and was able to let go of all the anxiety that had defined my first few months of school.

I feel much more confident stepping into this new chapter.

As you know, Doctor-ish was built on the idea of community, so I'd like to thank the community that got me through this year:

Mom- you were there after the long days, the failed exams, the passed exams, the tears, the praise breaks, and much more. Your strength filled me up & your prayers gave me courage. Thank you.

Tracye- your calls gave me joy when I needed it the most and allowed me to take a much needed breather. Thank you for allowing me to reset.

Paulina & Marissa- you both got an earfull almost weekly. Thank you for creating a space for me to be vulnerable about my struggles and pouring into me as only sisters can <3

Chai- my little, crazy puppy. Thank you for the pulling the all-nighters with your mommy.

Alex- you told me everytime you got how proud you were of me. Anything I needed, you would try to find away to make it happen. You are the best big brother anyone could ask for.

Kyra & Correggio- Literally would not have made it through without you all. Thank you for everything and for lifting me up when I needed it.

Anthony- Our paths crossed later in the school year, but school became so much more enjoyable once I found you. I am glad we got through our first year together!

Shantelle- Thank you for the texts, calls, and random ice-cream cashapps. You have been one of my biggest cheerleaders and I am forever thankful.

And to the rest of my family and friends who have been there, thank you! My village really showed up and showed out this year. WE made it!
